TrueDialog Integration

This article will show you how to send an SMS message using the TrueDialog Messenger on your record’s page. The TrueDialog Messenger must be added to your page layout before you can send a message. See the Salesforce – Adding TrueDialog Messenger article for instructions. See the Salesforce – TrueDialog Messenger Overview article to learn about the other features of the messenger. The instructions below utilize the Sales app and Contact object, but the process can also be applied to other apps and standard object types.

You can change the channel your message is sent from by following the instructions in the Select Messaging Channel section below. Switching channels is helpful if you use short-codes to send mass SMS messages or have multiple long-code channels.

The following instructions use the Sales app and the Contacts object in the standard Salesforce format. However, these steps can also be applied to other applications and standard object types. Depending on your Salesforce configuration, some fields may appear in a different layout or not be available. If you cannot view or edit the fields mentioned in this article, please contact your System Administrator for assistance.

Select Messaging Channel

The TrueDialog Settings utility allows you to change the channel your account uses to send messages. The instructions below show you how to use the utility to change your channel. If you don’t have the utility on your app, you can add it by following the instructions in the Salesforce – Adding TrueDialog Settings Utility article.

Due to short-code limitations, two-way messaging only works with long codes.

The selected channel applies to all messaging channels for your account. Therefore, if the channel is changed here, it will also be changed for your Mass SMS Messaging.

  1. Click the TrueDialog Settings utility at the bottom of the page.
    Click TrueDialog Settings
  2. The currently selected channel is displayed in the Switch Channel dropdown.
    Click Switch Channel
  3. To change the channel, click the Switch Channel dropdown.
  4. Select one of your long-code phone numbers from the list of available channels.
    Select Long Code
  5. Once switched, a Channel Switched notification is displayed at the top of the page.
