This article shows you how to use the Bulk Text Messages tool to send mass SMS messages to one or more Marketing Lists. Bulk messages can be sent from either long or short codes.

  1. Click Bulk Text Messages under the TD Messages section in the left sidebar.
  2. Click New in the toolbar.
    Click New
  3. Enter a name for the bulk message in the Name textbox.

    The Name field is for the Bulk SMS record in Dynamics and is not included in the SMS message sent to users.

  4. Click the Send from search box.
  5. Select the user from whom you wish to send the message.

    Typically, bulk messages are sent from your user account, but if necessary, you can send a bulk message from another user.

  6. Enter your message in the Message textbox.

    SMS messages have a character limit of 160 and will be sent as multiple messages whenever this limit is exceeded. The SMS Length field includes a Count, which indicates the number of messages sent to each contact, and a Remaining, which shows the number of characters left for this message. TrueDialog supports message concatenation, allowing users to receive a single message for carriers that support concatenation.

  7. Click Save.

    Saving the bulk message is necessary to select the Marketing List to which the message will be sent and to enable the Send button.

  8. Click Add Existing Marketin…
    Click Add Existing Marketing
  9. Select all the marketing lists to which you want the bulk message sent.

    You can use the search box to look up any marketing lists that are not shown.

  10. Click Add.
    Click Add
  11. Click Send.
    Click Send
  12. Click OK to continue sending the bulk message.
    Click OK
  13. After the bulk message is sent, the bulk message record will change to Read-only, the Status Reason will change to Sent, and the True Dialog ID field will provide the campaign Action ID.

Send with Short Code

By default, your bulk messages are sent from your long code channel. You can send bulk messages using the short code instead if you have a short code channel. The following instructions will guide you through adding a short code to your bulk message.

  1. Follow the instructions above to create a bulk message.
  2. Click the Short Code search box.
    Click Short Code Box
  3. Press Enter to browse for your short code.
  4. Click your short code.
    Select Short Code
  5. Continue following the instructions above to complete the bulk message.
    Enter Message and Click Save
  6. Send the bulk message following the instructions above.
    Click Add Existing Marketing
