What is a REST API?
At TrueDialog, we use a REST API to communicate with our system. An API, or Application Programming Interface, is a set of guidelines and functions that enable different applications to communicate with each other and operate seamlessly. REST, or Representational State Transfer, is a framework for designing APIs with consistent interfaces. REST APIs rely on predefined URLs to request data, which is then transferred using the HTTP protocol. Data can be returned in various formats, such as HTML and JSON. REST APIs also offer multiple methods to manipulate data, including GET, POST, PUT, and DELETE.
